HTC Technology gives viewers chance to enjoy BBC
HTC and Beach Ball Classic officials are excited to announce the 2016 online viewing results for the annual Beach Ball Classic events in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In addition to the fans in the stands at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, enthusiasts around the world in 17 countries and 46 states viewed some of the best high school basketball thanks to the connection HTC technology delivered for streaming video. There were over 17,000 unique visits for viewing the games from all over the United States and numerous international locations.

“It was amazing to see the overwhelming response from fans not only in the United States, but also around the world that made the choice to view some of the best high school basketball online. Online viewership of the tournament has been fairly consistent every year. The numbers for the 2016 Beach Ball Classic were no exception with our records indicating over 17,000 unique visits and there were more than 20,000 pageviews this year for the tournament. It’s interesting to note that 74% of our visitors viewed the games using mobile devices versus 68% last year.”
When the Beach Ball Classic, one of the premier invitational high school basketball tournaments in the country, was eager to try new media for the tournament’s 25th anniversary 12 years ago, they knew who to contact for support.
“As the leader in high school basketball tournaments, we were very excited about being one of the first and possibly the only holiday tournament to date to broadcast our games LIVE via the internet and television,” said Smith. “It’s been a valuable recruiting tool for the Beach Ball Classic as it provides live coverage of the games to hometown fans and family members that can’t make the trip to Myrtle Beach. With up and coming NCAA and NBA players on just about every team, interest in each team’s home market is very high, so there is a built in audience for streaming video.”
